Set In 1964, considering the death of his wife, Ip Man discovers he has throat cancer due to smoking. After his chaotic son Ip Ching fights back next to a bully, he gets expelled, and Ip decides to travel to San Francisco, united States to see for a school. His student, Bruce Lee, has industrial accident the local martial arts community in San Francisco by inauguration a Wing Chun school, teaching the Americans martial arts and writing an English language autograph album upon martial arts.[5] He discovers from an associate and his friend, Liang Gen, that a referral letter from the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent link is needed to enroll into a school. Wan is seriously insulted from the fight considering Geddes. Ip, filled considering emotions, finally reveals to his son that he has cancer, which finally allows him to talk to his daddy on top of the phone after many attempts by Ip. Ip is brought into the Marines' camp by Hartman, and defeats Geddes in a fight. Wan has already prepared the letter for Ip, but the latter said that he does not object to have emotional impact to San Francisco as he does not considering the place. Ip reconciles considering his son. A strong but tired Ip instructs his son to film him as he demonstrates Wing Chun upon the wooden dummy. Ip succumbs to his cancer, and it is revealed in the epilogue that the Marines had officially incorporated Chinese martial arts into their routine in 2001.
